Dr. Ison is Professor of Medicine Infectious Diseases and Surgery (Organ Transplantation) at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He is also Medical Director of the Transplant and Immunocompromised Host Infectious Diseases Service.
Dr. Ison specializes in infectious disease caused by germs, from the flu to hospital acquired infections and pneumonia. He is chair of the Adaptive COVID-19 clinical trial through the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases' Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases.
He is also involved with compassionate use protocol at Northwestern Medicine for patients with COVID-19 who meet certain guidelines. Dr. Ison received his Master of Science in Health Evaluation Sciences and completed his infectious Diseases Fellowship at the University of Virginia. He did post graduate work in Transplant Infectious Diseases at Harvard Medical School under Dr. Jay A. Fishman.
